Artist's Comments

The mockingbird is known for imitating the calls of other songbirds, and has provided the inspiration for both the most popular folk lullaby and the most popular song by Inez Foxx.

This is my take on the bird that hides behind the beak of another.

Mockingbird by =IBinsanity is like an abstract painting, made simply with light, subject, and a camera. The tones give a smooth depth to the planes of tonal shift and the flower emerges from this ethereal backdrop, creating the suggested image of a mockingbird. This is truly an abstract photograph, and is a great example of how abstraction can create as much beauty in a photograph as it can in a painting. (Featured by ^opioid)

Oh my is that not lovely :)

I'm sure you can see the overall painterly/charcoal-like aspect to this. Such a gorgeous treatment.

I see only one bird though, seemingly calling, and with wings spread out.

that's what it's supposed to be - except it's something else, imitating a bird ;)

the soft and organic subject, rather suggestive of its content and nature, simply slides with the gentle ease of the shade near the, I would say, "mouth of the mockingbird". The off-right source of light delivers excellent measure of lax to intensity, never striking as too much, or distracting us from the motioning, suggestive shape of the subject. Its almost poetic in the blur of its movements, as if free and yet alone. thank you.
